Understanding the Motor Cycles Only Sign

Motor Cycles Only

Where: At the beginning of a road, lane, or part of a road specifically designated for motorcycles. Commonly found on dedicated motorcycle lanes, motorcycle parking areas, or restricted road sections where motorcycles are allowed but other vehicles are not.

Purpose: To indicate that the road, lane, or section is reserved exclusively for motorcyclists. Ensures the safety of motorcyclists by reducing interference from larger or faster vehicles, and helps regulate traffic flow to prevent accidents involving motorcycles and other vehicles.

Action Required by Driver: Motorcyclists must follow the route indicated by the sign and may only use the designated portion of the road marked.

  • No other vehicles allowed — cars, trucks, bicycles, or pedestrians may not enter or use the road, lane, or section indicated by this sign.
  • Stay alert — remain cautious, as the designated area may still have obstacles, intersections, or other motorcyclists.
